The Good

Debut Album Out Now

Zoë Knight & Mythical Beasts is a varying collective of Monster Players

curated & led by singer & composer, Zoë Knight.

After two years and about a hundred gigs, the band's typical 2.5 hr live show

was distilled into an  86-minute double album,

recorded live-in-studio in four sessions over five days.

True to form, each session had a different lineup, and there were no rehearsals.

Vocal harmonies, and Nancy Loedy, were added later.

Reviews

"Time to put Zoë Knight & Mythical Beasts on your radar. They've crafted this ambitious, new double-album that is a knockout. Zoe has a uniquely electrifying voice that moves easily from soul-jazz to funk-rock to mystical, Kate Bush-like textures and even some reggae in 'Equality for All,' which could be a companion piece to Peter Tosh's 'Equal Rights.' The Mythical Beasts have an illuminating, humbly tight-knit sound, while Zoë (who wrote all the music) throws in virtuosic touches up front, whether on the simmering funk of 'Love Come Love Me' and sultry 'Make Your Move,' or the organ-drenched ballad 'Elemental,' where she confidently sings, 'I am a force of nature.' She's not kidding, because that is an understatement after hearing this new music." -- Steve Morse, Boston Globe
